About me and my work

I am a British artist currently based in San Francisco, specialising in live portraits and mixed-media papercut art. My passion is in connecting with people and creating minimal, beautiful portraits to capture their essence and style. I also love to make artwork inspired by the ocean and nostalgic summer trips to the seaside ~ ocean bathers, motel signs, amusement rides, ice cream, beach huts, kitsch towns with faded glory, colourful candy & sweets.

Before, I worked in marketing at Penguin Random House in the U.K., leading campaigns for authors including Lee Child, Sophie Kinsella and for Paula Hawkins' The Girl on The Train.

I have a BA(hons) in Illustration from UWE Bristol, and an MA in Graphic Design from the London College of Communication. Since my college days, I have focused my creative practice on papercutting, bookmaking and figure drawing. I have always sought to use recycled and found materials in my work, to give new life and beauty to discarded and forgotten materials.

All my work has a strong focus on form, line and use of negative space. I love to strip a composition back to its core elements, contrasting with intricate painted or cut details.
